Interested in Throwing Off the Hump? Join ceramicist Bryan Treakle for this 3-session ceramics class (Saturdays 12-3pm April 3rd, 10th, and 17th) that will demonstrate how to throw a small series of pieces using one large mound of clay, known as throwing off the hump. Using this technique, students will be able to throw a set of mugs/cups/small bowls. Previous throwing experience, as well as the ability to wedge and center 7-9 lbs of clay is strongly recommended.

Bryan Treakle obtained his BFA from Old Dominion University, with a focus in ceramics and metalworking. During his studies at ODU, Bryan was awarded the Daniel E. Frank Memorial Scholarship Endowment for Blacksmithing and Metalwork and the Barbara M. Gorlinsky Memorial Fine Arts Scholarship from the ODU Art Department, and the Lucy C. Morgan Scholarship from Penland School of Craft.
