About This Event
Oil Painting Workshop With Anne McNally - All Levels
WELCOME TO OIL PAINTING - BEGINNING/INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED - Ages 18+
Join Anne McNally in this 6-class workshop to learn the basic skills and techniques of oil paints. Anne will guide you in creating a painting from your own photographs. This 6-class workshop allows for 1 on 1 guidance as needed.
"I have taught oil painting for almost 14 years in Norfolk Virginia at D’Art Center, a downtown space of artists studios open to the public.
When I started teaching most of my students had never had any art experience either drawing, or painting. I truly believe that anyone who has a desire to paint CAN and WILL be successful.
My hope is that each student will learn to see “shapes of color” instead of lines in this ‘Paint what you see, not what you know' approach. Individual instruction will be emphasized in this "Impressionistic" method with a focus on subject matter, composition, materials as well as personal expression. Demonstrations and critiques will also be included. The focus is Oils and you will find it is a very forgiving medium. We will paint from photographs and each student may pick whatever subject matter appeals to you except portraits.
If you are just starting out PLEASE bring at least 5 photos: downloaded from a free photo website or from a magazine.
I am confident that if you JUST start painting, you will not be able to quit."
