Workshop Description:
In Afterschool Creative Play, students in grades 2-5 will engage in art exploration and creative play within a nurturing environment. Students are encouraged to ask lots of questions and discuss art! They will have the opportunity to play with a variety of art mediums and tools, foster social bonds, learn about different artists and art periods, and use their imagination!
Did you know art is known to be linked to strengthening long-term memory, reading ability, creative thinking skills, and writing fluency? While the class’s primary goal is to offer students a supportive space to explore art, it may also be curated to support students’ physical, cognitive, and social/emotional development based on peer-reviewed research and best practices.
Thanks to support from the City of Norfolk, we are able to introduce these new youth-centered workshops for free for a limited time!
