In this free Art Chat & Demo led by renowned d'Art Artist Ken Wright, participants will listen as he shares the story of his artistic career and the process in creating his collections. Ken will speak about painting the abstract form from realism, all while applying his process to a piece during a live demo in our Main Gallery.

About Ken
Ken Wright is a Richmond, Virginia native and a graduate of Norfolk State University with a BFA in Graphics and Fine Arts. Ken is an abstract painter using acrylics on canvas or museum board with over 300 awards and honors for his work. He is a former Arts Commissioner for the State of Virginia and has served on many arts boards. Ken’s art resides in many collections all over the United States and abroad; among the collectors of his work are President George W. Bush and President Barack Obama, both of which displayed his work in the White House.

This art chat is free and open to the public, but your RSVP gives us an idea on what to expect! We accept walk-ins and RSVPs, but all spaces are first come first served - an RSVP does not guarantee your space. Please arrive on time.

With help from the Program for Improving Capacity and Capability (PICC) Grant, the d'Art Center is able to bring back free programming for our community, but we need your help to gather information required by the grant to meet our goal in Connecting the Community with the Visual Arts. Before the activity begins, attendees will be asked to fill out a Participation Card that includes questions such as age range, zip code, etc.

Located in the NEON District, the d'Art Center is Norfolk's community art center! The center provides adult/youth art classes, on-site exhibitions, houses working artist studios, and hosts community outreach projects and event programming!
